Happy Fathers Day!!!!
Happy Father's Day to all the amazing daddys out there!!!!
I have so much gratitude toward my wonderful husband, he has amazed me in so many ways on this journey called parenthood, and he continues to be someone I truly admire and strive to be more like everyday! Watching him with Kaden truly makes my heart skip a beat, and nothing makes me happier than seeing his face light up when he sees Kaden. Coming up with new and fun games to play with him everyday, making sure that his outfit looks SWEET before heading out the door to daycare, cleaning the house and doing the dishes, making dinner and cleaning up after messy mommy just so mommy can make the most of her moments with Kaden after long work day.....just some of the many considerate and wonderful things daddy does each day.
So we were so excited to celebrate Daddy's first fathers day and of course, wouldn't you know it, he gets scheduled a double at work! We celebrated the night before and nugget and I surprised him at work to give him a burst of nugget sunshine in the midst of his long day. I also got matching Mr Rogers (Daddys favorite, and nuggets favorite-to-be shirts) tees for the boys....pics to come!
this is a shot of the card that kaden and I made for daddy...
and this is the precious card Margaret (his sitter) made for daddy....
and in other news....
Kaden LOVES avocado! BIG change from the sweet potatoes and squash, no likey orange food!
he absolutley LOVES his office!
he is completely smitten with everyone's boobs....
and eating everyone's hair....
and prefers his hair to be in a mohawk....

saying goodbye and random wednesday
I think I'm going to make a habit of just posting fun random pics on wednesdays. I like that. I am so random myself that it helps me to just see a random blur of some of his sweetest moments from the week right smack in the midst of the long work week. And so random wednesday it will be....
We had to say goodbye to a wonderful old friend yesterday. My friend Janet died in her sleep at the young age of 35 Monday night, and she is survived by her loving husband and her two year old little boy. It has been years since we spoke, we had a silly disagreement, and Janet being one of the most wonderfully stubborn people I have ever known, would not budge. I sent her many letters and b-day cards over the years, so in the end, I know she knew that in my heart she was always there, and that I cherished our friendship.
I met her on the first day of school on the bus going to the junior high and we had so many good times over the next 14 years. I will neve forget "camping" in her camper next to the cemetary, hilarious sleepovers, fun trips to canada, and the way we both obsessed over River Phoenix for so many years....we used to cut out pics from BOP magazine and frame them for each other...
My mom absolutely adored Janet...so I can only assume that they are happy to see one another and they are sharing quite a few laughs and hugs while watching over the rest of us.

a new friend
We took Kaden to meet his new future BFF, Shivam today. Kaden wasn't sure what to make of this little guy, and got super upset when he saw daddy holding his new little friend.
Harpreet is doing absolutely wonderful and she and Tim are so excited about their little bundle of joy! He is soooo tiny compared to our monster baby, but so alert and he already looks like he is a gonna be a rockstar, just like his daddy!
Kaden LOVED playing in the grass in their backyard....
....or at least until we tried to lie him down in it for a photo opp! We thought the future BFFs would love to see their first picture taken together when they are older. Poor Shivam looks scared to death of nugget's ginormous arm comin at him. I'm sure they will get a chuckle out of this one day!

a little update
It has been a while, and our little nugget has been a busy busy boy so I thought I might be in need of a little update post!
Chad took Kaden on his first trip to the zoo last week! On one of their daddy days, they spent the morning at the zoo with our friends Mike and the amazing Hanna Banana. It was an overcast day, and a bit chilly, and Daddy was equipped with about 14 different outfits in the diaper bag to battle any kind of weather that should come their way. Daddy sayss that the flamingos were his favorite animal, and he enjoyed staring at the concrete and the kids running around the rest of the time, no time for the animals!
We had a wonderful visit this week with Kaden's Mamaw and he got to meet Uncle Larry and Aunt Gloria for the first time! They had an amazing journey by car from Alaska, and we are so grateful Mamaw convinced them to take a "shortcut" to Los Angeles on the way to Denver from Alaska! Kaden absolutely adored his time with them, and he soaked up all of the million snuggles and hugs he got from each of them. We spent a day at Balboa Park (which is becoming our new favorite place) and Kaden loved watching the ducks and riding around in his little Bjorn. We put him in the stroller for a moment and he was NOT having it. He so loves riding in his Bjorn!
After two weeks on Oatmeal cereal, it was hard to tell if Kaden was getting the hang of it. He enjoyed yelling during his meals, and it just didn't seem like he was enjoying it so much. We wanted to start him on sweet potatoes or squash while his Mamaw was here, but of course those are both out of season. We are wanting to make our own baby food for him, at least in the begining and see how it goes. So our only other choice to start with was bananas. So we disregarded the veggies before fruit rule, and gave him a banana in his cereal. He absolutely LOVED it! The pics of him with the spit happens bib is a testimony to his yelling when he eats just the oatmeal. The pics of him in his brown onesie show a totally different little eater! He could not get enough of it!

Happy Five Month Birthday Kaden!
Dear Kaden,
How are you almost half of a year?
You have changed so much in the last month, I am not even sure where to begin!
You absolutely LOVE to talk, and your wise old owl eyes let us know truly what an old soul you are, and that there is so much DEPTH behind those babbles! You are already blowing rasberries and you sometimes serenade us in the middle of the night with your rasberries song! You adore when daddy makes the "BUZZ" sound, and you laugh SO hard when he buzzes on your belly!
You have discovered your toes and you love to grab on to the left one when you are on your back and do your leg exercises. The right foot is a little tougher, but we know there's no stopping you...soon enough you will have both feet in your mouth!
You absolutely love your new "school" and the friends that you have made there! Noah is your BFF and the two of you just love to stare at each other and laugh. Between school and our house, you have no time to be inside the house, you are a nature boy at heart and would so much rather be outdoors or out and about...so many people to see and things to do!
You FINALLY seem to be enjoying the car a little better these days, even though you are about to outgrow your carseat any day now! You are starting to roll over with the help of mommy and daddy, but you magically can move around from one end of the crib to facing the other way in the middle of the night.
You have started eating rice and oat cereal, though you don't really seem to LOVE either of them. I'm anxious to get you started on fun and colored foods, because really now, how exciting can rice cereal truly be?
Each and every month I say the same thing, now THIS is my favorite month...I just can't wait to see what you do next! I love seeing the world through your eyes, it blows my mind how much more beautiful everything looks!
Love,
Mommy
ps. We went to Balboa Park this weekend and Kaden got to meet his first horse he checked out the duckies too! He got to wear his new Bob Dylan onesie which was an awesome gift from Uncle Brian, and he looked just like daddy with his little army green cargo shorts! We also had lunch with his new girlfriend Stacey. I have never seen him flirt like the way he did with her! He was so coy and giggly, definitely his frist crush!
